ESN Issues Warning to Armed Herdsmen and Vigilante Outfits Operating in Southeast

By Samuel Coleman

As it marks its third anniversary, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), the militia arm of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has issued a warning to herdsmen, thugs, and vigilante outfits operating in the Southeast.

ESN has vowed to halt the activities of armed Fulani herdsmen in the region and has also cautioned the Anambra Vigilante Group (AVG) to cease the alleged abduction of individuals in the state.

In a statement by IPOB’s spokesman, Emma Powerful, the group called for the disbandment of all political thugs and vigilante outfits, including the Ebubeagu militia established by Southeast governors.

The group directed all government-sponsored criminals, car snatching gangs, kidnappers, and rapists operating in Imo and Anambra states to leave their camps.

One part of the statement reads: “The Fulani herdsmen and their Miyetti Allah sponsors parading around Abia, Akwa Ibom and Igweocha, Anambra, Delta, Enugu, and Ebonyi axes especially at the Lokpanta area must be stopped.”

ESN also warned the Anambra Vigilante Group (AVG) and threatened to confront them if they do not desist from their alleged murderous actions against IPOB members in Anambra State.

The statement further addressed the need to disband political thugs and illegal security outfits targeting Biafrans, emphasizing the disbandment of the Ebubeagu militia in Imo State. It also gave marching orders to all government-sponsored criminals to vacate their camps in the Eastern Region.

The statement concluded with a warning to traditional rulers and politicians facilitating the resettlement of Fulani herdsmen in Biafran communities, threatening to impose harsh punishment on those conniving with Fulani herdsmen and enemies of the land in the new year of 2024.
