‘Apocalypse Now’ star Frederic Forrest is dead

Unfortunately, the renowned character actor, Frederic Forrest, known for his roles in ‘The Rose’ and ‘Apocalypse Now,’ has passed away. His death occurred on Friday, June 23, at his residence in Santa Monica, California, after battling a prolonged illness.

Confirming his departure, actress Bette Midler expressed, “The great and beloved Frederic Forrest has died. Thank you to all of his fans and friends for all their support these last few months. He was a remarkable actor, and a brilliant human being, and I was lucky to have him in my life. He was at peace.”

Forrest, born on December 23, 1936, in Waxahachie, Texas, pursued his studies in theater arts and radio and television at Texas Christian University. His passion for acting led him to New York, where he received guidance from Sanford Meisner and became affiliated with the Actors Studio under the mentorship of Lee Strasberg.

He began his career with Off-Broadway productions before transitioning to Los Angeles. Forrest gained recognition with his roles in ‘When Legends Die’ and ‘The Conversation,’ both paving the way for a successful acting career.

He earned accolades for his performance in ‘The Rose’ and ‘Apocalypse Now,’ including Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations. His final film appearance was in ‘All The King’s Men’ in 2006.

Throughout his life, Forrest was married to Nancy Ann Whittaker from 1960 to 1963 and actress Marilu Henner from 1980 to 1983. His contribution to the world of acting will always be remembered.
