Afreximbank to finance Enugu key projects

The financing of several vital projects for driving development and investment in Enugu State has been pledged by the African Export-Import Bank. Afreximbank President, Prof. Benedict Oramah, announced the bank’s commitment during a visit to the Government House in Enugu. He expressed that the bank’s interest in Enugu is aligned with the vision of Governor Peter Mbah, and praised Mbah’s investment and development efforts, stating that such leadership makes their work easier.

Oramah emphasized the discussions on supporting the Enugu State government and its people, highlighting specific areas for collaboration, such as the hotel and Conference Centre development, the new airport terminal, the hospital’s development, and the potential for solid mineral development.

The President assured the Governor of Afreximbank’s support and solidarity with the vision for Enugu State and Nigeria. He stressed that Nigeria’s progress is synonymous with Africa’s progress and expressed hopes that by the end of 2024, substantial progress on the identified projects would benefit the people of Enugu State, Nigeria, and Africa.

In response, Governor Peter expressed gratitude for Afreximbank’s prioritization of Enugu State in its development agenda. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to enhancing the state’s economy and creating an enabling environment for investors. Governor Mbah also expressed eagerness for the collaboration with Afreximbank, emphasizing the significance of financial support to realize the outlined projects and underlining the potential for a strong partnership.
