His family and children
Sam Shields has a daughter named Samyla Shields. It’s unclear who the child’s mother is, but Shields had her long before she became an NFL star. Samyla was allegedly the reason her father was arrested on March 18, 2010 in Sarasota, Florida. The University of Miami star, who hoped to make it into the 2010 NFL draft, was arrested for possession of marijuana following a search of his grandmother’s home by law enforcement officers suspected of sell drugs from the residence.
Shields was in the house at the time of her arrest to pick up her daughter from the raid. He was taken into custody with other family members, but was released the following day. Shields said he was falsely arrested and about a month later the charges against him were dropped.
After entering the NFL, Sam Shields got engaged to a lady named Melissa Lopez who is said to be an actress. The pair had been together for about three years and lived together at his home, having moved to Green Bay, before Shields abruptly sent him packing in the middle of the night in 2012. The NFL star is said to have woke Lopez in the middle of the night and threw $300 at her before ordering her to leave, claiming he was no longer in love with her and had started seeing another person. According to reports, Shields later invited the lady back to her house a few months later, only to move her things and leave her in the apartment with nothing.
Since that incident, there have been no reports of the cornerback’s off-field shenanigans and it’s unclear if he and Lopez have put things right.
