Lorenzo Servitje was Marina De Tavira’s maternal grandfather. She is one of the business tycoon’s twenty-four grandchildren among his eight children.

Servitje, who was raised by Catalan/Spanish immigrant parents, made his fortune co-founding the Mexican multinational Grupo Bimbo, a manufacturer of baked goods. The son of a professional baker, he is credited with expanding Grupo Bimbo from a small company into a multinational conglomerate. He was president of the company from 1945 to 1981 and remained chairman of its board of directors until 1994 before giving way to his son, Daniel Servitje Montull, who is currently the company’s president and general manager.
