He achieved fame as a professional American Football player, playing as a defensive end for the Denver Broncos (1971-1978), Cleveland Browns (1979-1981), and Los Angeles Raiders (1982-1985). Throughout his career, Lyle achieved significant milestones such as winning the Super Bowl in the 1983 season with the Raiders, and participating in two Pro-Bowl games, in 1977 and 1978, while also being named as the UPI AFC Player of the Year in 1977. Sadly, on the 14th of May 1992, he passed away in Portland, Oregon due to brain cancer.
