Singer Ricky Martin and husband, Jwan Yosef are getting divorced

Ricky Martin, the Puerto Rican pop star, and his husband Jwan Yosef are going through a divorce. 

A joint statement released on Thursday, July 6, announced their decision to end their marriage with love, respect, and dignity, for their children, and honoring their experiences as a couple over the years.

Their greatest desire now is to maintain a healthy family dynamic and a relationship centered on peace and friendship for the joint upbringing of their children, while preserving the respect and love they have for each other.

The couple, who have now separated, shares two young children, Lucia and Renn. Ricky also has two twin sons, Matteo and Valentino, whom he will continue to raise as a single parent. All four kids were born via surrogates.

Ricky and Jwan first connected on Instagram in 2015. Six months later, they began dating after meeting in London. They publicly announced their partnership on the red carpet at the 2016 amFAR Inspiration Gala and got engaged the same year. Two years later, they officially tied the knot.
