NBA laments insecurity in Abuja communities
The Nigerian Bar Association, Bwari, Federal Capital Territory branch has raised concerns about the increasing insecurity in communities within the area council. Recent news reports have highlighted a series of abductions of residents in the area, with gunmen kidnapping seven people and injuring two policemen in the Zuma 1 area of Bwari on January 5.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Chairman of the Bwari branch of the NBA, Paul Daudu, expressed distress over the deteriorating peace in the area and the ongoing threat faced by its residents. The statement emphasized the significance of the safety and well-being of the community, including the members of the association who live and work in that area.
The statement also highlighted the concerning rise in criminal activities such as armed robbery, kidnapping, and other violent crimes in recent months, causing distress among residents and impeding economic activities and social cohesion in the community. Daudu underlined the critical nature of Bwari as it is home to national assets such as JAMB, Nigerian Law School Headquarters, and Veritas University.
Daudu called upon law enforcement agencies, particularly the Nigerian Police Force, to take immediate and decisive measures to restore law and order in Bwari and its surroundings. The call to action seeks to address the escalating insecurity and to safeguard the well-being of the residents and members of the legal community in the area.
