The bassist of Maroon 5, Mickey Madden, has been arrested on charges of domestic violence.

Reports from Page Six confirm that Madden was first arrested on Saturday, June 27th, and the news of his arrest was officially announced by major US outlets on Wednesday, July 1st.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, 41-year-old Mickey Madden was taken into custody in Los Angeles on Saturday under penal code 273.5(a), with the charge described as ‘wilfully inflicting a traumatic injury on a spouse or cohabitant’. The identity of the alleged victim has not been disclosed.

Following his arrest, Madden was released after posting $50,000 bail, but he is expected to appear in court on September 29th to face the charges.

If found guilty, he could face a six-year prison sentence and a fine of $6,000 (£4,839).

Maroon 5, an American pop-rock and funk-pop band from Los Angeles, California, consists of lead vocalist Adam Levine, keyboardist and rhythm guitarist Jesse Carmichael, bassist Mickey Madden, lead guitarist James Valentine, drummer Matt Flynn, keyboardist PJ Morton, and multi-instrumentalist Sam Farrar.

Maroon 5 star, Mickey Madden arrested on domestic violence charge

Madden has been part of Maroon 5 since the band’s early days and also played with the group in the 90s before they found fame. This is not the first time the bassist has had trouble with the law, as he was previously arrested on cocaine charges four years ago.

In a statement to British news site Metro UK, a spokesperson for the group expressed their deep devastation regarding the arrest and stated, ‘We are deeply devastated by this disappointing news. As we learn more, we are looking at this very seriously. For now, we are allowing all of the individuals involved the space to work things through.’
