Better known by his online alias “KSIOlajideBT” or simply KSI, he is a British YouTube personality, video game commentator, rapper, actor and comedian. Building on his notoriety on YouTube, KSI took his music career to the next level. KSI got into “rapping” around the same time the Sidemen were forming. His debut EP titled Carry On was released in 2016, topping the UK R&B Albums Chart.

KSI was born Olajide William “JJ” Olatunji Jr. on June 19, 1993 in Watford, England. He is of Nigerian descent. Her parents, Jide and Yinka Olatunji, were not happy with her decision to quit school and pursue a career in social media. Her parents and brother have been featured in different videos on her channel. He created his YouTube channel in July 2009 and by December 2012 he had reached his first million subscribers. His videos typically consist of gaming videos (especially FIFA), crude, often sexual humor, pranks, comedy sketches, and music videos.
Currently, more than 17 million subscribers on its main YouTube channel is the 42nd most subscribed YouTube channel. He has racked up over 3.5 billion views on his videos, which is way more than half of the world’s population! And as you know, these stats aren’t just for record keeping. They translate into megabucks for the channel owner. For KSI, he raised $4.5 million in 2015, making him the fifth most deserving YouTube star in the world, according to Forbes magazine, in 2015.
KSI and the Sidemen Group
He was part of the Ultimate Sidemen YouTube group, which he formed on October 19, 2013 with YouTubers Vikram Barn (Vikkstar123), Josh Bradley (Zerkaa), Tobi Brown (TBJZL), Simon Minter (minime) and Ethan Payne (Behzinga) ; Harold “Harry” Lewis (Wroetoshaw) joined them a year later.
However, things went south at some point and KSI left the group. He announced it via a tweet in August 2017, citing fellow Sidemen member Ethan Payne as his reason for leaving. Following this decision, KSI moved from Sidemen House in East London to Los Angeles, California. This set off a series of events which were labeled “Sidemen’s War”. An array of dissenting leads and insults were exchanged between KSI and his former Sidemen mates. At the end of all this drama, the diss tracks are so numerous that KSI compiled them into an EP titled “Disstracktions” which he released in September 2017.
You thought “Sidemen’s War 2017” would end after the release of this EP right? Well, it’s not. Sidemen friend Joe Weller took part in the feud. In fact, they decided to set it up Anthony Joshua style, in a boxing ring! KSI and Joe Weller will face off in an official boxing match on Saturday 03 February. The fight was announced at Upload 2016, an event for YouTube influencers only.
The fight generated so much buzz with KSInandJoe Weller using his various YouTube channels to promote him. This fact made many people wonder if the feud was real or if it was just another ploy created by these YouTube entrepreneurs to make more money from their fans?
Controversy and Records
KSI was at the center of a scandal following his actions at a Eurogamer event in 2012. Attendees at the event were allegedly sexually harassed, forcing Microsoft to permanently sever ties with the player and impose a ban on him. Eurogamer Lifetime Event. Microsoft ended its endorsement deal with Xbox One the following year.
He once held the Guinness World Record for the biggest margin of victory against the computer on FIFA 13 when he hit 190 goals.
KSI lived in South East London with Miniminter, Vikkstar123 and Zerkaa at Sidemen House, while still in the band. He had also featured in many videos with all the Sidemen.

KSI’s younger brother, Deji Olatunji, is also a YouTube personality best known as ComedyShortsGamer. He and his brother Deji ranked number one and two respectively among the UK’s most influential YouTube creators.
At the moment, KSI appears to be single. Money can’t buy love, they say. Well, he wasn’t always single. He was in a relationship with Seana Cuthbert, another YouTube blogger. She is known online as ‘Seanyyy’. The relationship ended after two years because Seanyyy felt deprived of attention as KSI was too busy with his YouTube career and other pursuits in his life, he didn’t give her the attention she wanted.
