BIOGRAPHY
Juliette Lewis was only two years old when her parents divorced. She grew up among her eleven half-brothers and half-sisters while wanting to become an actress from a very young age, although her father, also an actor, tried to dissuade her. At the age of fourteen, without having taken any acting lessons, she landed a role in a comedy sitcom , I Married Dora , and decided to leave high school (which she only attended for three weeks) to devote herself fully to her career as an actress.
In 1988, she joined the cast of I Married an Extra-Terrestrial alongside Kim Basinger and Dan Aykroyd , before being propelled to the forefront three years later thanks to Martin Scorsese ‘s film , The Nerves. lively , where she plays a young Lolita whose family is stalked by a dangerous psychopath. Facing Robert De Niro , she was astonishing, and immediately received a nomination for the Golden Globes and the Oscars in the “Best Supporting Actress” category.
The 90s were those of consecration for the actress, who demonstrated that she knew how to take risks by playing dangerous characters. A young woman preferring more mature men in Woody Allen ‘s Husbands and Wives in 1992, the following year she played a crazy and seductive girl in the thriller Kalifornia alongside Brad Pitt , before being the fantasy representation of Ralph Fiennes in the futuristic film Strange Days in 1995. But it was probably through the film Born Killers in 1994 that the actress became famous. In the film by Oliver Stone , she and Woody Harrelson play a couple of serial killers who have gone down in history thanks to television. The extreme violence of the film creates a scandal and allows Juliette Lewis to make a name for herself. After A Night in Hell in 1996, the actress toured less often, being more rigorous in the choice of her roles. We find her opposite Ryan Philippe and Benicio Del Toro in the detective film Way of the Gun in 2000, then opposite Gina Gershon in Claire’s Hat the following year. She is Jennifer Lopez ‘s best friend in Michael Apted ‘s thriller Never Again
and plays alongside Vincent Cassel in the adaptation of the comic strip Blueberry in 2003.
Juliette Lewis devotes the rest of the 2000s to American independent cinema. She found herself alongside Johnny Knoxville in Daltry Calhoun (2005), then in Aurora Borealis (2006) by James Burke with Donald Sutherland , also going through the romantic comedy register with My Life Without Him (2007) alongside by Jennifer Garner and Timothy Olyphant . She was part of the large female cast of Drew Barrymore ‘s film Bliss (2009) and appeared in actor Mark Ruffalo ‘s directorial debut Sympathy for Delicious the following year. In 2010, after the comedy A Very Modern Family by Josh Gordon where Jennifer Aniston and Jason Bateman try as best they can to conceive a child, Juliette Lewis played in Drew Barrymore ‘s first film , Bliss , before reuniting with Todd Phillips in Deadline , director for whom she had already filmed in 2003 in the adaptation of the series Starsky and Hutch .
