A significant donation of $100 million was made to music icon Dolly Parton by Amazon’s founder Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez, marking her as the latest recipient of the Bezos Courage and Civility Award. The announcement was made by Bezos’ long-time partner, Lauren Sanchez, on Instagram, praising Dolly Parton for her heartfelt contributions and leadership, while expressing their excitement about the positive impact she will make with the award. In response, Dolly Parton expressed her intentions to utilize the funds for good and thanked Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez.

Notably, Dolly Parton had previously donated $1 million towards vaccine research during the Covid-19 pandemic. She expressed pride in her involvement, noting it as a significant contribution towards healing the world. Additionally, Dolly Parton has been involved in various philanthropic initiatives, including the establishment of the Dollywood Foundation and The Imagination Library program, aiming to provide access to books for children globally. In Tennessee, she also created the Dolly Parton Scholarship, granting $15,000 towards college education for recipients.

The generous act by Bezos and Sanchez towards Dolly Parton follows previous grants of $100 million each to CNN contributor Van Jones and chef José Andrés. This latest philanthropic endeavor continues to showcase the commitment to giving back and supporting individuals making a meaningful difference in their communities.
