BIOGRAPHY
Daughter of the actress Catherine Belkhodja , Isild Le Besco took her first steps on screen at the age of 8 in Lacenaire : she played Hermione, a character she shares with her older sister Maïwenn . The young director Emmanuelle Bercot chooses from a casting this teenager with clear eyes and insolent charm, and makes her the heroine of her two short films, awarded at numerous festivals: Les Vacances then La Puce ( 1998), which tells the story of sexual initiation of a young girl by a mature man – a few years later, Bercot will call on her again for Backstage , his second feature in 2005.
Isild Le Besco very quickly finds a first major role in a feature film ( Les Filles ne don’t know how to swim ) before making a new decisive encounter, that of Benoît Jacquot . He directs her alongside Daniel Auteuil in Sade (with a first nomination for the César for Most Promising Actress in 2000), and Isabelle Adjani in Adolphe . Then, just like Cédric Kahn , who made her the girlfriend of the serial killer Roberto Succo (new nomination for the César in 2001), he exploited the passionate temperament of the actress in See you soon , a new story of a run in 2004. Jacquot and his muse hit the road again in 2004 for The Intouchable , the story of a quest for identity which leads them to India, and earned Le Besco the Female Revelation Prize at the Venice Film Festival in 2006.
The actress, who seems to be fond of young authors ( A Moment of Happiness , Wild Camping ), without denying popular comedies ( The Cost of Living , a great public success), went behind the camera in 2003 by signing Demi-tarif , a work unique filmed for children, and praised by all critics. Three years later, she filmed Charly , a portrait of a teenager played by her little brother Kolia Litscher . Having become the muse of a certain French cinema away from mainstream productions, she carries with ever greater passion and finesse the projects Pas Douce , I would eat you in 2007 or The Good Heart (2009) by Dagur Kari .
After a stint behind the camera for a film with sketches based on memories of great films, entitled Childhood(2008), Isild Le Besco reunites with his mentor, Benoît Jacquot , in an ambiguous amorous variation entitled Au fond des bois (2010).
