The jury deliberated for eight hours in August 2019, 20 years after Belinda and her unborn child were murdered and following an 18-day retrial. Temple was found guilty of murdering his pregnant wife at their Katy home, and he was sentenced to life in prison.

Temple was found guilty by a Harris County jury in 2007. He was sentenced to nine years in prison after that. The conviction was reversed by an appeals court because Siegler suppressed evidence from the defense. Temple was released on bond in December 2016.

Defense attorneys contended that the judge misused his discretion by declaring a mistrial, putting Temple in peril twice over and denying him the ability to have a single jury decide his guilt and punishment. The 14th Court of Appeals dismissed these appeals, effectively upholding the mistrial.
Temple was retried in 2019 and found guilty once again. When the jury couldn't agree on his sentence and a mistrial was declared, a new jury had to be formed to decide his fate. The second round of punishment was supposed to start in March 2020, however, it was postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

On a $1 million bond, David Temple remains in the Harris County jail. In 2007, David Temple was found guilty of the murder and sentenced to life in prison. After his defense team successfully argued that the initial prosecutors in the case concealed evidence, his conviction was overturned in 2016. In 2019, he was retried and found guilty of murder for the second time. After the jury couldn't agree on his sentencing, a mistrial was declared.

He is currently in prison, awaiting a court date to face a new jury for sentencing. His guilty conviction stands, but his sentence is still up in the air.
