Gucci Mane was born on Radric Delantic Davis12. February 1980 in Birmingham, Alabama. His father, Ralph Everett Dudley, is a former US soldier and power plant worker while his mother, Vicky Jean Davis, is a social worker and teacher.
Although Gucci was tutored by his mother herself, who taught him to read, his first attempt at formal education was at Jonesboro Elementary, where he attended kindergarten. He later transferred to Cedar Grove Elementary School when his mother relocated to East Atlanta.
Around the age of six, his older half-brother,Victor, had introduced him to selling cannabis. Surprisingly, this part-time job didn’t affect the boy’s academic performance at Ronald E. McNair High School, where he achieved good grades. He graduated in 1998 and a few months later received a HOPE grant to attend a computer programming course at Georgia Perimeter College.
Unfortunately, by this time, Gucci Mane was beginning to miss classes regularly and was kicked out of the program in 2001 after being caught with crack cocaine by an undercover cop.
