Javier Solis was a renowned Mexican musician and actor whose contributions to his country’s entertainment industry cannot be hastily forgotten. Although he is no longer alive; his legacies have lasted for so many years. He was best known for being a member of the group of Mexican entertainers called the Three Roosters, as well as a Mexican Ranchera-Bolero singer who rose to great fame in the 1950s and early 1960s. he was heading towards the height of his musical career, his life was cut short following an unsuccessful gallbladder operation; he left this world at a very young age of 34. Find out everything you need to know about the talented singer and actor below.

Youth

Javier Solis was born to Gabriel Siria Levario in Mexico City, Mexico on September 1, 1931. He was born to Mexican parents – Francisco Siria Mora and his wife Juana Levario Plata. His father worked as a butcher and baker while his mother was a trader. Life was not looking good for Solis, his father having abandoned them when he was still very young. His mother, unable to cope, also left Solis with his uncle Valentin and his wife, Angela Lopez Martinez, whom Solis grew up to be considered his real parents.

Before becoming a teenager, Solis had already dropped out of school so he could work and support his family. He attended primary school in Tacubaya and after leaving school; Solis has tried many things, including picking glass and bone, as well as working as a transport agent in supermarkets. He also worked as a butcher, carpenter, baker, car wash and was trained as an amateur boxer. However, he was unsuccessful in his efforts. But he definitely had one thing he was good at and that was music he later became a star for.

Carrier start

When he worked as a butcher, Solis often participated in singing contests and on occasion; his boss heard him sing and was so impressed with his untapped talent. From then on, he helped Solis by recommending a vocal coach while paying for his music lessons. At the age of sixteen Javier Solis traveled to the city of Puebla where he began to sing with the Mariachi Metepec. However, the young singer did not find his breakthrough until two years later when Alfredo Gill and Juilto Rodriguez, who are part of the famous Latin music group called Los Panchos, discovered him.

The stars helped future Solis land a record deal after an audition at CBS Records. He signed a contract with CBS Records in 1950, after which he dropped his first album later that same year. Two years later, he released his first hit titled Lioraras. As the song enjoyed commercial success, its producer Felipe Valdez Leal gave it the stage name Javier Solis.

Rise to the height

After her debut single was met with commercial success, Solis began to attract international attention; thus, he played in musical tours in Central America, South America and the United States until 1957. Solis’ songs gained great popularity thanks to his style of music, including boleros, corridos, waltzes, ranchera and danzones. Among his hit songs are Amanceci En Tus Brazos, Sombras, Payaso, Vereda Tropical and En Mi Viejo San Juan, to name a few.

In 1959, the talented singer began his acting career; he appeared in more than 20 films between 1959 and 1966. Solis collaborated with other stars, including Maria Victoria, Pedro, Armendariz, and Antonio Aguilar, among others. His last film was released just a year before his death. He was considered one of the Three Mexicans who made giant strides in Mexican music and cinema alongside Pedro Infante and Jorge Negrete.

Last years and cause of death

In 1957, after the death of his co-star, Pedro Infante, who died in a plane crash in Merida, Yucatan, gained popularity. Between 1961 and his death, Solis released twelve songs that topped the Mexican charts. The young artist was later diagnosed with gallbladder infections and had to undergo surgery to remove them.

Seven days before his death, Javier Solis performed his song titled Perdoname Mi Vida during a TV show. In the meantime, when the show was happening; Solis constantly made painful gestures. Although he underwent the cholecystectomy, the operation proved unsuccessful. He had complications and also lost his life in the process. He died in Mexico City and his death occurred on April 19, 1966.

Interestingly, before his death, Solis married to a woman named Blanca Estela Saenz. Blanca was a dancer I met at a gig at a local bar called Teatre Lirico in Mexico City. There is no information about his wife’s background and the amazing couple had no children before her death.
