Atlanta Celebrates Lil Baby with His Own Day
Lil Baby, the Grammy award-winning rapper, has received one of Atlanta, Georgia’s highest honors in his hometown.
On Sunday, November 13, the city officially recognized the date as Dominique “Lil Baby” Jones Day, honoring the 27-year-old rapper who was born and raised in Atlanta’s Oakland City neighborhood.
During a special ceremony on Sunday, Lil Baby received a proclamation from the Atlanta City Council, acknowledging his successful Hip Hop career and his impact as a “musical ambassador” for Atlanta. His philanthropic efforts, including the establishment of his Four the People Foundation, were also commended in the proclamation.
Lil Baby’s foundation has been instrumental in giving back to the local community, from establishing a $100,000 scholarship fund at his alma mater, Booker T. Washington High School, to pledging $1.5 million of the proceeds from his 2020 hit “The Bigger Picture” to underserved neighborhoods.
Celebrating the occasion, Lil Baby shared several photos from the ceremony on his Instagram, expressing his gratitude and excitement for the official recognition.
Since rising to fame in 2017, the Atlanta native has achieved significant accolades, including three BET Hip Hop Awards, one MTV Video Music Award, and a Grammy for his appearance on Kanye West’s “Hurricane.”
